December 2, 2008

ENGLEWOOD, CO, Dec 02, 2008 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX News Network) -- EchoStar Corporation (NASDAQ: SATS) and its EchoStar Satellite Services business unit, a leading provider of satellite space segment, backhaul, aggregation and distribution of video and audio content domestically and internationally, today announced that the World Teleport Association (WTA), a leading organization that focuses on the business of satellite communications from the ground up, has named EchoStar to its prestigious "Global Top Twenty" and "Fast Twenty" rankings for 2008. WTA provides the only independently compiled rankings of teleport operating companies. The complete rankings are available on WTA's Web site at www.worldteleport.org.

EchoStar ranked seventh on the prestigious "Global Top Twenty," a list of companies based on revenues from all customized communications sources which includes operators of teleports, satellite fleets and fiber networks. In addition, the company made the "Fast Twenty" list which ranks all teleport-operating companies based on year-over-year revenue growth in their most recent fiscal years.

"Our split in January 2008 from our parent company was a strategic move to make our eight satellites and 10 uplink facilities available to the commercial market on a broad scale," said Steve Skalski, vice president of EchoStar Satellite Services. "In recent years, we've strengthened our capacity with the addition of teleports in strategic locations around the U.S. to facilitate full time or occasional use satellite leasing for any type of client seeking mission-critical video, audio or data broadcast needs. The WTA recognition is a testament to the commitment we've made to TV news broadcasters, corporate networks, government operators or others needing satellite-delivered content."

EchoStar provides a highly reliable satellite and fiber network that is available for backhaul, aggregation and distribution of video and audio content domestically and internationally, including ViP-TV services for IP solutions for telco and cable operators. EchoStar represents a significant source of Ku-band and Ka-band satellite capacity with access to a fleet of eight satellites, sophisticated ground-based teleport facilities, an expansive 160-city fiber optic network along with 24-hour Traffic, Technical Operations and Satellite Access Centers staffed by highly trained engineers and technicians.
